Our average funeral home client gets calls from families within one to 50 miles of their facility, depending on their market. Which is EXACTLY why the US Post Office’s new venture, Every Door Direct Mail, will work so well for small businesses, like mortuaries, cemeteries and crematories, when reaching out to the neighborhood.
With Every Door Direct Mail® service from the U.S. Postal Service®, you can reach the customers who matter most to your business – in nearby neighborhoods. Postage is as low as 14.5¢ per piece – and you don’t even need to know names or street addresses. Simply identify the neighborhoods you want to target and your printed piece is delivered to every active address in your target area.
What Every Door Direct Mail brings to your marketing efforts.
- Reaches consumers in their homes. With Every Door Direct Mail, you can saturate an entire neighborhood with your message, and your mailing gets directly into the homes and hands of consumers. What’s better, you can target by carrier route, so you can exclude a few blocks in a zip code if they aren’t your demographic (think college campuses).
- As much or as little space as you need*. Every Door Direct Mail offers a flexible range of sizes, making it ideal for anything from a quick sales announcement to an in-depth product story. 6.25×9, 6.25×11, 8.5×7, 4×12, 12×15 You only need a 4 x 2” white space for the EDDM permit and zip code to be printed on.
- Helps your messages work harder. With Every Door Direct Mail, you can include announcements, invitations, preplanning checklists and more — all of which can help bring families to your door.
Why we like it.
Saturating a neighborhood with direct mail has always been possible, but it typically involved the purchase of a mailing list. In most cases, the mailing list was more expensive than the design and printing of the postcards or self mailing brochures. And then postage was never less than $.24. Now, it’s just $.145 per piece AND you are guaranteed to hit everyone in the neighborhood. What’s not to like?
Things to keep in mind.
As this becomes more and more popular (and I think it will), you’ll want to try the odd sizes like 6.25 x 9 and 12 x 15 to make your message stand out. And, it’s not as fast as an email blast. Once your postcard design is approved, it typically takes 7-10 business days to print, prep and get the marketing pieces to your local post office.
